Call out for contributions to ISSUE #3 SPACE

We are superlatively pleased to announce the theme for upcoming Issue 3 of Death of a Scenester — S P A C E !

In this paper-cut-throat world, it pays to keep your creative machinery well and truly oiled. How long has it been since pen met paper? Since the muscle-memory for type-writing was jump-started, initiating that inexhaustible thirst for spilling your thoughts, stories and sketches onto the page?

Death of a Scenester wants, as always, your delicious wordiness. The zournal is in black and white. Keep in mind a page length of maximum 4 x A5 pages for each contribution. And while our compass is always oriented towards a more TEXTual magnetic north, we encourage collaboration and illustration! Ultimately, we feel the appeal of the visual (photos, toons, illustration, found-scanned objects) coupled with new, brave text. Tongue firmly in cheek; the more outside of the box the better.

Aching to reach for them lofty stars? Take a moonshot! Get in touch with us at with your proposal for a piece for Issue 3. Above all, we want to encourage people to write and have fun, to explore what they can achieve when they set pen to paper. Take the theme word anywhere you like and get back to us with a short proposal by January 28 and we will keep you in the loop about the acceptance of your proposal by February 1. Due to an expected large number of contributions we must advise that not all pieces will be accepted for publication. So give us your idea before you slave away for weeks getting it together. We will then need final pieces to us by February 25, 2011 so we can get it ready for the launch party on April 9.

About deathofascenester

death of a scenester is an independent publication aiming to publish quality writing with a real voice. death of a scenester will maintain a gritty, punk, DIY underground edge but will also uphold a slicker style. Its ethos is that it would like to strike the ground squarely between a gritty grass-roots zine publication that promotes the total freedom of artistic and individual expression and Realpolitik (pragmatic, honest, controversial) type publications, which have articles and opinion pieces that refer to the generation gap, music, art, immigration, and counter-cultural activities.
